I think it all started in 2001, when my parents decided they would host a Christmas Eve party at their house. There were about 30 guests invited including our own family. Then it happened again the following year then the next year and then after that it just became a tradition. Every year there would be more and more friends and family added to the guest list. This year there was about 75 people who came and 12 of those were kids. By the way, my parent's house are just average in size so you can just imagine how tight it is and how loud it is in our home that evening - Yes, we can be very loud. This is always a gathering we all look forward to. It not only bring our family and friends together but for new guests who gets invited it gives them a chance to meet our growing family and show them how we celebrate the birth of Jesus.
With kids running around, people coming in and out it was chaotic -- but fun! I love seeing kids running around playing, laughing. I love seeing people who haven't seen each other much talk and laugh together, and people who just met get to know each other. There is usually a time during the evening where I just sit and observe and take it all in and have such complete happiness in me. Because for me Christmas is having to celebrate the birth of Jesus with family and friends close to your heart, and my family is blessed to have 75 people that night who decided to spend their time with us.
Here is a glimpse of what we had in store during that night.
